Daglingworth is famous for it's Saxon carvings, four 10th century sculptures, three of which were discovered when the chancel arch was rebuilt in 1850. They had been used as the jambs of the arch with the face side hidden in the wall. Three of the sculptures appear to be the work of one craftsman and depict Christ crucified, Christ in majesty and St Peter. There is also a Saxon window reset in the vestry that was cut from a Roman altar stone. The village of Daglingworth lies to the north of Cirencester at the head of the Duntisbourne valley, an area of immense natural beauty. The river winds for some distance through ancient Cotswold villages and passes four churches of Saxon origin, an ancient landscape. www.bwthornton.yolasite.com
